Tuahiwi
Tuahiwi is a small village of around 3100 people located near Woodend, 25 minutes north of Christchurch, with Rangiora and Kaiapoi as nearby service towns. The area has a marae and a rich history of Maori culture. Take the time to visit St. Stephen’s Church, Category I on the Historic Places Trust register, which was built in 1867 by Reverend J. W. Stack who established a mission school in the area.
The village today features a school, preschool, sports reserve and market gardens and each February holds an annual fair.
For information on the Tuahiwi Fair, contact Jenny on 03 327 2199.
